I do not believe in astrology but Janet Amid is spookily good. We booked her for a party once where Janet arrived and set up shop in the basement. Ahead of time we all provided first name, gender, and place/date/time of birth. Janet ran star charts in software for all of us before she came, and then did a personal reading for each of us while the rest of the group partied upstairs.
Janet’s readings are very effusive, personal, and specific. She is constantly flipping through this big reference book as she talks, looking up particular aspects or subtleties and then interpreting. She tapes her readings as she gives them so you can remember just what she said and what she has projected. She’s very personal and combines a certain down-to-earth-mama attitude with a slight otherworldly edge.
Afterward we all listened to each other’s tapes which were quite personal and very heavy and we all agreed she was very, very accurate. The only person who seemed a little off later found out her birthdate and location were inaccurate so her chart was off.
Again, I do not believe in astrology but this was a lot of fun. It was an eye opener. Having her read off what was going on in my life, what had been going on, and what was about to go on was pretty spooky because it was spot on.

I was uncomfortable with this experience – a reading New Year’s Day 2023 – both the reading and the communication before/after, and I offer a word of caution to similar seekers. Janet asks – kind of insistently – that you provide birth info of loved ones so she can see you in context (and I guess because people always ask about others). While this makes some sense, it’s also not necessary – or doesn’t need to be and has some weird feeling of building a database. I’ve always seen astrology as that a person’s chart and reading is about their path–and their job to put it into context. At any rate, while Janet was able to fit me in quickly, which I appreciated, the communication to set up the appointment was a bit disjointed and awkward. It’s got a rushed feeling. Also her website mentions relocation astrology / astrocartography as a focus (which was my primary focus for that time period), but I didn’t receive any evidence that Janet has experience / knowledge in that area. She mentioned something about Toledo/Ohio being Pisces – that is not locational astrology, which is at least largely individualized. She is say something about buying a ranch style house because I might have knee / joint trouble… it’s the fortune telling part that bothers me, really, and that is personal preference– if you want the kind of “destiny says and you have no choice” reading, Janet may be a better choice for you. Personally, I like the evolutionary / growth / free will context – you have this question in front of you, and depending on how you respond… during the reading, there were some truly uncomfortable things – that bothered me then but also stuck with me after – one, she kept telling me not to make sounds like “Um hum” etc because it disturbs her psychic pathways – I mean, to each their own, and charitably I’d like to think it was a positive message to a Gemini rising to “use their words” but in actuality it made for an uncomfortable experience – particularly oddly the person who has recommended her said she never said anything like that to him ?? – two, she brought up my mom dying in the soon future – which absolutely guaranteed is not something that can be PREDICTED from my birthchart – and even if there was some message coming through about it, it is the kind of message only passed on with the greatest caution if at all. This basically leads me to my core concern here – while I respect that Janet learned astrology from her Dad, what I saw and experienced was a kind of fortune telling astrology that leaves out free will. I would advise anyone seeking to know more about what the stars and other bodies want to say to them to read about evolutionary astrology and free will astrology – read the writing of Steven Forrest and Rob Brezny and consult people recommended by the same. The Inner Sky, Pronoia, those books are going to be largely more helpful than fearful fortune telling “certainty.” Last note, when I contacted Janet to let her know I was going to post a review and why I was disturbed, that communication was also off – essentially what happened was: she first offered me a 50% refund or another reading – I said I’d think about it – then she / her assistant contacted me again like within 24 hours to see what I wanted – when I said I’d think about it again – they said the 50% refund was the only option. I just said I’d let them know if I wanted one… and left it at that. I was kind of insulted that she only offered me 50%. To her credit, she said she didn’t care about the review but did care that the customer wasn’t satisfied. However, I think somewhere in seeing me as a customer more than a human/ trying to get rid of a problem and move on versus actually solving it, and giving me the time to think I requested, for example, something was lost in translation. So, a word of caution for similar seekers and best of luck to Janet that similar souls are handled with more care in future.

Me and my dad went from Michigan to Ohio just to visit this store, and the half hour drive was worth it. I was looking for some starter crystals and asked for some help and the lady working gave me a bunch of information about crystals and even helped us when she would normally start closing the shop. It was a very pleasurable experience as we will definitely be coming back. If you are looking for some new crystals I would highly recommend this shop.

I was excited to check out this little shop, but was so disappointed when I walked in and my senses were inundated with a cloud of strong incense being burned at the front door. I have asthma and am very sensitive to smoke and fragrances. I loved the shop, very cool, unique items for the lover of all things eclectic, but I couldn’t stay to look at all of it because of the incense. It’s not necessary, and I hope the owner considers discontinuing the use of incense during business hours.

I needed a psychic reading, one that read my tarot cards and future reading. Kai was the best! He read my cards and explained everything over the phone, usually when people explain the meanings to me I get so lost and confused but he lead me and guided me to what lies ahead and what type of person I was spiritually. Not only that but he also was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back to him for readings. 5/5 he definitely deserves the rating.

FAKE/FRAUD This woman is a sham! Do not.. I repeat DO NOT waste your money. One of my family member’s went to see her. She answered the door all disheveled, house was filthy (which should’ve been a big red flag), she said a reading cost $55 for a 25-35 minute session. The reading only lasted approximately 15 minutes. She only talks about general things that anyone could pick up on. Take away: $55 loss & Lesson learned. PLEASE, to anyone reading this review, don’t waste your time or money. Run the other way as fast as you can!!

Okay so I only downloaded this app specifically to look for psychics but I usually never leave reviews, but I felt the need to leave this one to save someone money. To keep this short I made an appointment to see sylvia at 12:30 I arrived at her house and she wasn’t dressed appropriate, hair a mess, pajamas, dirty house, i asked her if i was allowed to film my experience she told me she was friends with janet amid the psychic in sylvania and said that she told her to charge to be filmed and told me 200$ to film her reading now her reading was only 75$ so to charge an extra 125$ so someone can film their experience is disgusting, i contacted janet amid about this and she said she does not know who sylvia is and that it was ridiculous to charge to film let alone 200$. Sylvia is a scammer that is all i got from my visit today. Save yourself time and money and book an appointment with Janet Amid. Thank you

Decided on a whim that I wanted to go get a tarot reading so I headed straight to google as you do to see what was close by. Jorie had a next day appointment so I was good to go! The shop is very inviting while having a little bit of something for everyone. I brought home a few new crystal towers and other items. My reading was my first one but I found it very accurate to where I am personally in my life and clarification on certain things I have been wondering about.Already planning a return trip with my girlfriends.

This place is probably one of my favorites in downtown rochester! Its so fascinating and my psychic is on POINT! I have been seeing Jorie since July (two seperate readings) and honestly I really think that she has a talent for this stuff. I was going through some things when I first saw her and I didnt tell her anything because I wanted to see if she was legit. She literally uncovered what I was going through & suggested next steps for me. I wasnt expecting her to cure a disease or anything but it was just crazy how she was just able to find out exactly what was happening without me even hinting at it. I will definitely be back to see Jorie again soon and I would recommend anyone whos into this kind of stuff to check it out and experience a psychic reading at least once!

We decided to day drink in Rochester because… Well, why not? While there we found this cool tarot shop. My niece is really into this and I love witchy stuff. So we decided to check it out and send her some pics. This was a great place even if you’re not into that. Definitely fun to get gifts or beautiful jewelry etc. We had a great time hanging out and looking around. The staff was helpful and friendly.

I was a huge fan of this store, I have a rewards system there as I am an active shopper. However, I recently had a negative experience. I encouraged my friends to come with me into the store as I have genuinely enjoyed their products, so we went inside. As we were shopping around, my friend made it apparent to me that the worker had been recording me while shopping around in the store. He had his phone camera out and was recording me and my friend shopping and smelling their fragrances from behind us. I had purchased what was in my basket and exited the store with my 3 friends. While outside, my friend explained how he was recording us the entire time we were shopping. I went inside to speak to the worker about the behavior and he had claimed that the inventory was off so he was recording us in case he needed to show the police. Which was unnecessary because there is a security camera in the store, therefore a phone camera would not be necessary. When the security camera was addressed to the worker, their response was that they didn’t have time to watch the footage so they took a video on their phone as well. He apologized if it made me uncomfortable. As a young girl, I did find it very uncomfortable to be unaware of being filmed while doing something as simple as shopping. We were not the only individuals in the store at the time either, however the couple with their baby in the store at the time was not being recorded. As a young female I assume that I fit the demographic for an individual that would steal and would therefore be justified by the recording he took of me. It was inappropriate behavior and I will not be giving The Downtown Tarot Company my service again.

I just am a bit bummed out that all sales are final, but you can’t see the tarot cards until you buy them. I was sold a deck where the only person with brown skin was the devil card. I know technically the devil card isn’t necessarily an evil card, but it’s just a little odd.

We are welcoming a new store to the heart of downtown Rochester – how exciting! This place is filled with so many goodies – tarot cards, incense, candles, crystals – the list goes on. I have stopped by here a few times now to pick up sage, palo santo, and candles for smudging as housewarming presents. It’s a great shop and I’m excited to return, particularly to check out the reading services they offer as well. A wonderful new addition to downtown! 🙂
